Three days a year, Prea, a small alpine village above Roccaforte, looks like Bethlehem.
On December 24th, 26th and January 5th the village is transformed into a big living nativity scene and the narrow streets, the narrow spaces, the stones and the caves become the ideal environment to relive a tradition that, in our region, is one of the oldest in the whole area.
The trades of the past with craftsmen in period costumes are staged in the houses overlooking the street in a faithful reconstruction. Frescoes have recently appeared on the walls and adorn the facades of the village. Everything revolves around the parish church, a small jewel of baroque style. When it snows, the village seems to come out of a book of fables, where the inhabitants of the different villages go through the ancient tradition of the crib. In Pianvignale (Frabosa Sottana) the performance takes place every year and arouses great interest from the public.
